Celebrating Norton Rose Fulbright – Singapore

2022 marks the 40th anniversary of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Singapore office. The office, which opened in 1982, is one of the largest and longest-standing of any international law firm in the city.

The firm’s Singapore team is widely recognised as a leader in banking and finance, dispute resolution, international arbitration, and corporate, M&A and securities across a range of industries, including aviation, energy, financial services, infrastructure and commodities, shipping, and technology.

In 2018, Norton Rose Fulbright entered into a Formal Law Alliance (FLA) with Ascendant Legal LLC. The FLA is in addition to our local Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP). Norton Rose Fulbright is one of only two international laws firms in Singapore to have both a FLA and the QFLP.

Norton Rose Fulbright head of Singapore and partner Yu-En Ong commented:

“Over the past four decades, we have rapidly expanded our regional offering and have retained a resolute focus on supporting our clients through both good times and challenging times.

With support from our global offices around the world and Ascendant Legal, we also continue to develop our local talent and assist businesses in driving and cultivating sustainable practice.

We are proud to have achieved this milestone and we’d like to once again thank our clients and our community for their support and trust over the past forty years, as well as our colleagues for their contributions to our success.”

Peter Scott, managing partner, Norton Rose Fulbright, Europe, Middle East and Asia, commented:

“Our Singapore office continues to thrive and grow, and our 40th anniversary is a cause for celebration. I thank Yu-En and our whole Singapore team for all they have done to build our practice and help clients navigate their most pressing challenges across the region.”

In line with the firm’s focus on developing local talent and increasing access to careers in law, the Singapore office has recently revamped its trainee programme and dual qualification scheme by offering a new learning and training pathway for local graduates. Graduates will be able to experience working in a global network and gain exposure to both Singapore and international law.

Giving back to the local community and shaping a greener future play a vital role at Norton Rose Fulbright. The Singapore team engages actively in a range of volunteering, fundraising and pro bono activities.

This autumn, the firm will host its second Singapore 100km Island Relay to raise funds for the Rainbow Centre and the Community Justice Centre. For all donations received, the firm will match the funds and make donations to the above charities.
