TechLaw.Fest to feature 120 speakers from 20 countries providing insight into global legal innovation
More than 5,000 members of the world’s legal and technology communities are expected to gather online at TechLaw.Fest 2020. The virtual event will have more than 100 speakers from 20 countries who will offer thought-provoking and practical insights into legal innovation, technology law, harnessing technology to improve access to justice and the future of automated legal operations.
The third edition of TechLaw.Fest will be the largest ever, both in terms of reach and content. Running from 28 September to 2 October 2020, it will be free for all attendees, said organisers Singapore Academy of Law (“SAL”), Singapore’s Ministry of Law and MP Singapore.
Ms Serene Wee, Chief Executive of SAL welcomed this, noting that the event will leverage technology to widen its reach. “The pandemic has hammered home the centrality of technology in legal work. The themes to be discussed at TechLaw.Fest 2020 are timely and global. Be it harnessing technology to improve access to justice or the regulation of technology, these issues affect multiple jurisdictions. TechLaw.Fest itself promises a wholly virtual experience, which will allow more to benefit from its nuanced and holistic discussions on issues affecting law and technology.”
Mr Mark A. Cohen, Executive Chairman of the Digital Legal Exchange and SAL Catalyst-in-Residence commented on the impact of the pandemic on the legal industry. “COVID-19 is turbocharging transformation of the legal function. This is a global phenomenon, one that focuses on how legal professionals can better serve clients and society. TechLaw.Fest will provide insights, best practices, and actionable intelligence from around the world, enabling participants to better understand the challenges, opportunities, and imperative of digital transformation.”
Said Mr Bill Deckelman, EVP & General Counsel, DXC Technology, “The future of law and the impact of legal tech and digital transformation will be one of the most pressing issues of the new decade. TechLaw.Fest 2020 promises to be an important virtual opportunity to collaborate globally with our colleagues and explore new ideas in legal and tech.”
TechLaw.Fest is a signature Law & Technology event hosted annually in Singapore. TechLawFest brings together the international community to debate, deliberate, act and innovate in both the law of technology (policies, regulations, legislation, case law and governance) and the technology of law (infrastructure, business transformation and people development). It is co-organised by the Singapore Academy of Law, Singapore’s Ministry of Law and MP Singapore. More information can be found at www.techlawfest.com.
