Singapore government to study gender equality

Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam revealed that the Government plans to release a White Paper on women development in the first half of 2021 after undertaking a major review of gender equality in Singapore.

As part of the review, which will be spearheaded by Sun Xueling, Low Yen Ling and Rahayu Mahzam, the Government will organise a series of “Conversations on Women Development” to obtain the views of the public, which will be used to craft the White Paper.

Mr Shanmugam made this announcement in a speech he delivered on Women and Gender Equality at a dialogue session held through the Zoom video conferencing platform on Sunday (20 Sept). Speaking to over 100 individuals from youth and women groups, the minister said that the review was initiated in response to the voyeurism cases in local universities. read more
