Singapore Companies Can Certify for Cross-Border Data Programs

Eight of 21 Asia-Pacific countries in one cross-border program

Singapore is launching an effort to certify companies that follow the privacy rules of cross-border data transfer programs in the Asia-Pacific region, becoming the third country to do so.

Companies in Singapore that apply for certification must show they meet criteria of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation’s Cross Border Privacy Rule (CBPR) System or Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) Systems, Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission said July 17.
